ArtByte

Built on a foundation of innovation and artistry, ArtByte (ABY) is a pioneering decentralized peer-to-peer network that combines transaction speed, ease-of-use, and a noble mission to support artists and content creators. The original "Legacy Artbyte" blockchain was a pure Proof-of-Work (PoW) cryptocurrency based on Scrypt mining, featuring ultra-fast block times combined with large per-block rewards. However, this design led to significant inefficiencies and rapid devaluation of unspent transaction outputs (UTXOs). In response to the 2018 "crypto winter," a team led by EWMCI embarked on a transformation of ArtByte in early 2022, successfully transitioning to a hybrid PoW and Proof-of-Stake (PoS) code that addresses many of the inefficiencies of the original chain. This upgrade significantly reduced the probability of a 51% attack while ensuring enhanced blockchain security.

ArtByte's emission model has been reformed to reflect contemporary supply-demand considerations inherent to a fully mature blockchain, with annual emission of new Artbyte reduced from over 2 million to fewer than 50,000 coins per year. The project is also part of the EWMCI Crypto Ecosystem, a global cryptocurrency platform that focuses on development, infrastructure, and use cases for participating core projects. As a member of EWMCI Bronze, Stock-to-Flow Stars (due to its scarcity), and EWX-18 indices, ArtByte has established itself as a credible player in the cryptocurrency space.
