Verus

Built on a foundation of security and scalability, Verus is a public blockchain protocol designed to tackle the core problems plaguing the cryptocurrency space. Operating as a decentralized, open-source platform, Verus enables users to create and use blockchain infrastructure without coding, leveraging its secure transaction-based architecture to achieve true scalability and security.

At the heart of Verus lies its innovative technical features, including Smart Transactions, which serve as an alternative to smart contracts, providing consensus-level security and eliminating vulnerabilities. The protocol also boasts a hybrid consensus mechanism, combining 50% proof-of-work and 50% proof-of-stake, making it provably resistant to 51% attacks. Additionally, Verus's Fee Pool system collects all protocol fees and distributes them gradually (1% per block) to prevent block sniping and maintain network stability.

Verus provides a wide range of use cases and utility, from DeFi applications to identity systems, leveraging its protocol-level features that are more secure and scalable than smart contract-based solutions. The platform's multi-chain architecture allows for horizontal scalability, enabling the launch of interoperable blockchains as needed rather than overloading a single chain. With Verus, users can mine up to 22 ecosystem coins simultaneously using regular computers (CPU), mobile phones, or ARM devices.

The Verus team is comprised of experienced developers and contributors, including Michael J. Toutonghi, Lead developer and former Vice President and Technical Fellow at Microsoft, and Lex (Alex) English, Developer/program manager with a background in software development, system administration, and technical editing. The community-driven project has no controlling entity, with development direction determined by community participation.

Verus has achieved significant milestones, including the launch of its PBaaS chain solution, which allows anyone to launch their own blockchain, and the introduction of vYIELD, a decentralized interest-bearing stablecoin bridged into the Verus Protocol from Ethereum.
